Opened in 1954, this was Texas' first museum of modern art. It focuses on 19th- and 20th-century European and American art. It includes the art collection and Spanish Colonial Revival-style residence of the late Marion Koogler McNay. In 2008, the addition of the Jane and Arthur Stieren Center for Exhibitions created a space for major exhibitions and a sculpture gallery.
