This event kicks off with a Play Day at the South Padre Island CVB, followed by two days of fishing and Sunday's awards ceremony. Registration is Wednesday and Thursday at South Padre Island Convention Centre, 7355 Padre Blvd. Weigh-in is at South Point Marina in Port Isabel on Friday and Saturday afternoons. A fish fry and award presentations are Sunday at South Padre Island Convention Centre.

Venture into this wildlife park after dark to look at the stars, listen to the nighttime sounds, discover nocturnal animals and learn about how animals use the night sky. Using spotlights, tour guides take visitors on an after-dark adventure featuring exotic animals and native nocturnal wildlife. Reservations are required (at least three days in advance recommended). Hours are 6-9 p.m. Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, 2299 C.R. 2008.
