San Antonio Museum Of Art

Since its opening in 1981, the museum has become home to an array of Greek and Roman antiquities, Asian art, Latin American art, European and American paintings, contemporary art, Oceanic art, decorative art, and near Eastern and Islamic art. It is housed in the historic Lone Star Brewery, built in 1884. Open 10 a.m.–9 p.m. Tue., 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Wed.–Sat. and noon–5 p.m. Sun. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, Easter and Fiesta Friday. Admission charge, except free 3–9 p.m. Tue. 200 W. Jones Ave., between Broadway and St. Mary's St. 210/978-8100. www.samuseum.org.

Featured Attraction

This museum is the only facility in the world dedicated to honoring and documenting the distinguished women of the American West, including Georgia O'Keeffe, Dale Evans, Patsy Cline, Sacajawea, Willa Cather and Annie Oakley. Designed by David Schwarz, it includes a permanent exhibit, traveling collections, a multipurpose theater, expanded research library, a store and the Cowgirl Hall of Fame. Open 10 a.m.–5 p.m. daily.
