River Bend Nature Center

Nestled amid 15 acres in the city, River Bend Nature Works is an environmental education center. Visitors enjoy the wetland pond, the bird habitat, bird watching and other activities. A one-mile interpretive nature trail loops through the site; one-half mile of the trail is wheelchair-accessible. Pavilion features picnic tables and wheelchair-accessible rest rooms. Open 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Mon.–Fri., 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Sat. and noon–4 p.m. Sun. Admission charge. 940/767-0843. www.riverbendnaturecenter.org.

Ruby N. Priddy Butterfly Conservatory is a 7,000-square-foot glass structure that rises more than 47 feet in the air and features 120 species of native wildflowers, shrubs and trees and hundreds of native and migratory species of butterflies.

Fannin County Museum Of History

Pioneer, local and regional history exhibits are housed in this restored 1900 Texas and Pacific Railroad Depot. Fourteen rooms hold antique furniture, tools, vintage clothing, art, Native American artifacts, railroad memorabilia, photographs and historical documents.
