Potton House

Potton House is a restored Victorian home of Joseph Potton family, circa 1901. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and features early 1900s architecture and furnishings. Open 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Tue.–Fri. Admission charge. Second Street and Gregg. 432/267-8255.

Featured Attraction

Open nightly from May–October for a spectacular emergence of up to 3 million Mexican free-tailed bats from an abandoned tunnel off the old San Antonio Road, originally part of the Fredericksburg and Northern Railway Co. that operated from 1913–41. Viewing from the upper observation deck is free. Programs given every Thu.–Sun. at the lower observation deck for a fee. Group tours by reservation only Mon.–Wed. 866/978-BATS.
