Lighthouse Lakes Paddling Trail

Offers a series of four loops ranging in length from 1.25 miles to 6.8 miles. The trails meander through seagrass flats and an extensive black mangrove estuary, into sloughs and back lakes near the historic 1857 Lydia Ann Lighthouse on North Harbor Island. In a sloping basin among the scenic Davis Mountains, the 1,869-acre park host more than 155,000 visitors annually. A free interpretive center is open afternoons June–August. It features plant and animal material, both live and mounted; a bird observation window; and a wildlife watering station. Camping, picnicking, dining room, trailer facilities, rest rooms, nature study and hiking are available. Admission charge. Indian Lodge — On the slopes of the Davis Mountains, this rustic inn was built in the 1930s and was modeled after Southwestern pueblos. Admission charge. 432/426-3254.
