Historic Homes

Several homes in varying architectural designs have been restored to their original 1880s charm. Some of the homes are open and decorated for the Candlewalk Tour of Historic Homes during the Whistle Stop Christmas each year.

Anglin Rose is a large, ornate Queen Anne house built in 1892 for a successful grain dealer. It features an octagonal second floor turret, stained-glass windows and period antique furnishing. Appointment required for tour at 6:30 p.m. Wed. 808 S. Anglin St. 817/641-7433.

Featured Attraction

Built in 1928 as an oil-storage facility, the huge tank was abandoned because of leakage. Converted in 1987 to a museum, it features the relocated and restored Holman House, which served as a hotel at the terminus of Monahans-Fort Stockton Stage Line early in the 20th century, plus period furnishings. Site includes the first Ward County jail, antique oil field equipment display and an amphitheater.
