A birdwatcher at Goose Island State Park

Goose Island State Park

Park covers 307 acres on the peninsula between Copano and St. Charles bays. It includes rest rooms, showers, picnic sites, open shelters, play area, fishing pier and boat ramp. Tent and trailer camping are permitted. This is the site of "Big Tree," an immense live oak, estimated to be 1,000 years old. Admission and camping fees. About 10 miles northeast of Rockport; take Texas 35 to Park Road 13, then drive two miles east to the park entrance. 361/729-2858. www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/parks/goose_island.
