This Texas Historical Commission property, operated by the Admiral Nimitz
Foundation, is the only institution in the continental United States dedicated
exclusively to telling the story of the Pacific Theater battles of World War II.
Its six-acre campus includes the George H.W. Bush Gallery, Admiral Nimitz
Museum, Plaza of Presidents, Veterans' Walk of Honor and Memorial Wall, Japanese
Garden of Peace, and Pacific Combat Zone.
The Admiral Nimitz Museum in the historic Nimitz Hotel highlights Admiral
Nimitz's life and career as well as his key contributions to victory in WWII.
The newly completed George H.W. Bush Gallery contains a 34,000-square-foot
exhibit boasting an outstanding display of Allied and Japanese aircraft, tanks,
guns and other artifacts made famous during the Pacific war campaigns, as well
as media rich and interactive elements to help tell the comprehensive story of
the War in the Pacific. Interior exhibits open 9 a.m.–5 p.m. daily. Outside
exhibits open 8:15 a.m.–4:45 p.m., except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and
