Fulton Mansion in Rockport-Fulton
Photographer: Kevin Stillman

Fulton Mansion State Historic Site

The Fulton Mansion, a Texas Historical Commission property, sits impressively overlooking the Aransas Bay and is surrounded by stately oaks. For its time, this home—with its mansard roof and ornate trim work—was progressive, luxurious and rare in this part of Texas. Today, it offers a glimpse into the life of an affluent family in the late 1800s. Learn about George Fulton's engineering skills, take a walk through Harriet Fulton's gardens and hear stories about living in this grand Victorian villa, called Oakhurst. Open 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Tue.–Sat. and 1–3 p.m. Sun. Guided tours offered on the hour. Admission charge. 317 S. Fulton Beach Road. 361/729-0386. www.visitfultonmansion.com.
