Take the famous glass-bottom boat or kayak ride, one of the most popular ways
to view the bubbling springs and the Natural Aquarium of Texas. This ride
introduces visitors to an excavation site from which artifacts dating as far
back as 12,000 years have been recovered. The Endangered Species Exhibit gives
visitors an up-close look at the unique species that live only in the San Marcos
River. The new "Wetlands Boardwalk" exhibit, just outside the park along the
banks of the San Marcos River, offers a great place for bird watching. Open
daily. Hours vary by season; see website for details. No admission charge to the
center, but there is a fee for the boat ride. 512/245-7570. www.aquarena.txstate.edu.
