Built on 15 acres originally belonging to Gen. Houston, the complex features
eight buildings, including his two period-furnished homes (the "Woodland Home"
and "Steamboat House"), Houston's law office and a replica of the Woodland Home
kitchen. It is the site of the Gen. Sam Houston Folk Festival in April.
Museum exhibits Houston's personal effects, items belonging to Santa Anna
when he was captured at San Jacinto and 19th-century pioneer artifacts. It
includes an exhibit hall/gift shop, romantic park with benches, small picnic
area and spring-fed stream. Open 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Tue.–Sat. and noon–4:30 p.m.
