Cascade Caverns

Cascade Caverns, beneath Texas' Hill Country, was discovered by Lipan Apaches in the 1700s as evidenced by artifacts and a cave fireplace found there. Visitors can witness beautiful cave formations––a million years in the making––in one of the only "living'" caves in Texas. Millions of glistening drops of water decorate the Diamond Ceiling, while a 90-plus foot waterfall cascades down the walls of the Cathedral Room. Home to several unusual animals, including cliff and leopard frogs, Mexican brown bats and Cascade Cavern salamanders. Open 9 a.m.–5 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m.–6 p.m. weekends Memorial Day–Labor Day; 10 a.m.–4 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m.–5 p.m. weekends Labor Day–Memorial Day. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas. 226 Cascade Caverns Road. www.cascadecaverns.com.
