The 293-acre park includes the site where Texas declared independence from
Mexico on March 2, 1836. Visitors can tour the Independence Hall replica and
walk the trails where the old town of Washington stood. The town site hosts a
living history program every third weekend in November–February.
Park facilities include a conference center, education center, outdoor
amphitheater, picnic area and nature trails. Texas Independence Day celebration
is held annually on the weekend nearest March 2. Open 8 a.m.–sundown daily for
day-use activities; no overnight camping. Closed Thanksgiving Day and Dec.
