Brown County Museum of History in Brownwood

Brown County Museum Of History

Housed in the former Brown County Jail. Built in 1902, it resembles an ancient European castle in its design. The third floor contains a trap door and lever for executions. The museum preserves Brown County history and educates through exhibits and artifacts. Included is the Evolution of Communications exhibit sponsored by the West Texas Pioneer Telephone Club.
