Four unusual cone-shaped hills rise about 350 feet above the surrounding
plains. The area was named by the Comanche tribe who believed the mounds were
dwelling place of powerful and benevolent spirits who could cure ills, assure
successful hunts and offer protection in battle. The mounds are on private
property; drive-by view about five miles south off U.S. 287 and F.M. 91. The
Medicine Mound Museum is open 10 a.m.–noon Sat. or by appointment.
