Once the largest prisoner-of-war compound used for Union troops west of the Mississippi during the Civil War. Now the site includes a public park managed by the Smith County Historical Society. Features kiosk with extensive graphics detailing the history of the camp, a walking trail and interpretive signage, a reconstruction of a POW cabin, and picnic facilities. Open dawn–dusk daily. Free.
