The Cross

Rising 100 feet from the rolling prairie, The Cross was built by the Jim and Doris Studer family in 1993. It measures 70 feet from tip to tip on the arm, and the arms are 60 feet above ground. It is 10 feet square, 14 feet on diagonal and weighs 50 tons. Adjacent to The Cross is a grotto and statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe. On Texas 158. The museum depicts life on the Blackland Prairie from early settlers through the boom years, 1920–60s. It is housed in a 1925 building that is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places. Open noon–5 p.m. Fri.–Sat. and 1–4 p.m. Sun. (except Easter).
