Founded by Lady Bird Johnson in 1982, this 42-acre site includes numerous
research display gardens, landscaped areas and themed gardens. The Center is the
only national nonprofit research and educational organization committed to the
preservation and re-establishment of native plants in planned landscapes.
Visitor center has museum-quality exhibits. Especially colorful during spring.
Open 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Tue.–Sat. and noon–5:30 p.m. Sun. Admission charge. In
southwest Austin; from I-35, take Slaughter Lane. Exit 227 west to Loop 1, go
