Opened in 1929, closed in 1974 and reopened in 1989 as a performing arts
center, the Majestic is said to be one of the finest "atmospheric" theaters ever
built. Completely restored and entered on the National Register of Historic
Places, the theater combines Baroque, Spanish Mission and other motifs from
Greek and Roman traditions to create a fantasy environment. 224 E. Houston St.
