Large salt block sits outside Salt Palace in Grand Saline

Grand Saline Museum/Salt Palace

The present salt-block structure, built in 1993, is only the third since the original salt palace was built for the 1936 Texas centennial. The building serves as an information center and museum. Exhibits include early photographs of the city and its citizens, historic salt-related items and mining memorabilia. A film shows a tour inside salt mine. Open 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Tue.–Sat.
