This Texas Historical Commission property memorializes the brave soldiers who
fought the Battle of Coleto Creek on this site in 1836 during the Texas War for
Independence. Though Fannin thought the surrender was on honorable terms, Gen.
Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna ordered the Texans (about 342) executed at Goliad
about a week later. (See Goliad.)
Facilities include water, rest rooms and picnic accommodations. Open 8 a.m.–5
p.m. daily. East of Goliad nine miles on U.S. 59 and then one mile south on F.M.
