Area museum details the heritage and economic background of the county.
Displays include wildlife trophies, as well as county artifacts and photographs
of ranching, agriculture, archeology, medicine and local sulfur mines. On the
grounds is the former home of Dan Rather, former CBS news anchor and Wharton
native. Open Mon.–Fri. 9:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. (closed for lunch 12–1 p.m.),
Sat.–Sun. 1–5 p.m. Tours of this facility are 11 a.m. & 2 p.m. during museum
