This park marks the site of the old campus of Baylor University, chartered in
1845. The men's college merged in 1886 with Waco University, now Baylor
University (in Waco), and the women's college became the University of Mary
Hardin-Baylor (in Belton). Today, only the columns of the main building and
ruins of the stone kitchen remain. The original home of John P. Coles was
relocated and restored here (open select weekends in March-April or by
appointment by calling 979/830-5576; admission charge). Includes a marked trail
on area history, modern picnic facilities and rest rooms. On F.M. 390, three
blocks west of F.M. 50.
