This land was deeded to Cactus by Phillips Petroleum Company in 1999 and is
used as a bird refuge. The utility lake is a gathering spot for more than 80
common species of birds and numerous uncommon birds. At times you can see bald
and golden eagles, falcon, cranes, cactus wren and kittiwake. The site is part
of Texas Parks and Wildlife's Great Texas Wildlife Trails. The lake is on F.M.
281, approximately two miles southeast of Cactus.
