Featured Activity

Texas' oldest existing Texas courthouse, built in town of Cora, 1856, then county seat. When county was partitioned in 1859, Comanche became county seat. The vintage building was relocated to the southwest corner of town square.

Recently, workers restoring the park area around Old Cora rediscovered an old water well hand dug in 1859 to furnish water for the courthouse and the public. As part of the beautification project, the well is lighted so visitors can view the inside through a clear covering to see how the sides are built and the water in the bottom.
