Yorktown

Region: Prairies and Lakes

John York was the area's first settler in 1846. The Indianola Trail to San Antonio, surveyed in 1848, went by the York home. Czech and Polish immigrants settled in the area, and greetings are often given in those languages today. The area is known for outstanding displays of wildflowers, birding and hunting. The famous Western Days Festival on the third full weekend in October features cook-offs, parades, a rodeo, live music, carnival and more.

Nearby Cities: Schulenburg, Flatonia, Yoakum, Floresville, Fannin, Shiner, more...
