Seat of Throckmorton County, named "The Capital of the Cow Country" by the
Texas Legislature. Farming, ranching and oil production are main industries.
Hometown of Dallas Cowboys' legend Bob Lilly. The area is a popular destination
for anglers and hunters, and hunting leases are available. RV park, with full
hook-ups, is located south of town. City park, swimming pool and municipal
nine-hole golf course available. Annual festivals include Wild Game Dinner in
January, Ranch Rodeo & BBQ in May and Cow Country Christmas in
December.
