The first settlers arrived in the area in 1848, but the town wasn't organized
until 1873, when the railroad was built on donated land in return for a depot.
Terrell is now a regional industrial distribution center with more than 40
industries, including five Fortune 500 companies. The city is home to
Southwestern Christian College and Trinity Valley Junior College. There are more
than 20 historical markers and many historic homes, churches and buildings.
The Terrell Heritage Society offers tours for groups of 10 or more, conducted
by guides in period costume. Reservations are required.
