Region: Panhandle Plains
Named for nearby Tahoka Lake, a natural spring-fed lake whose Native American name meant fresh or clear water. The seat of Lynn County since 1903, today it is a cotton marketing and shipping point with gins and a compress.
Watch for the Tahoka Daisy mid-spring until frost. First discovered at Tahoka Lake, the lavender wildflower spreads over the plains to rival the bluebonnet and wild verbena.
