Schulenburg

Region: Prairies and Lakes

Established in 1873 as the GH&SA Railroad (now part of Southern Pacific) was moving west, this town was named for Louis Schulenburg, who donated land for a depot. Schulenburg is a German word meaning "school town." German-Czech heritage is reflected in the city's eating establishments.

Wolters Park, at the south end of Bohlmann Street, includes picnic and recreational facilities, as well as Jacob Wolters' 1835 log cabin.

The city lies along the Texas Independence Trail, which winds through a 28-county area. It is noted for many historic buildings, homes and historical markers.

Nearby Cities: Sheridan, Dime Box, Rockne, Flatonia, Industry, Smithville, more...
