Raymondville

Raymondville Historical & Community Center

Region: Gulf Coast

The town is the Willacy County seat and a commercial center for grain sorghum, cotton, citrus, vegetables and corn. Favorable conditions allow for a 300-day growing season. Recreation includes a municipal swimming pool, parks and saltwater fishing in Laguna Madre and the Gulf of Mexico at Port Mansfield. Raymondville and Willacy County provide a diversity of other recreational opportunities—shopping, dining, boating, birding, wildlife viewing and hunting. Several RV parks are available for either short- or long-term stays.

Raymondville Golf Course, nine holes, offers golfing in a pleasant environment. 1839 Emma Ross Road. 956/689-3594.

Inquire locally about one of the original boot making families that still craft boots by hand. Their boots are worn by Texas Rangers, cowboys and royalty. Over the years, word of mouth and minimal advertising have attracted hundreds of devoted customers.
