Region: Hill Country
At the confluence of Llano and Colorado rivers, this spot was popular for
fishing even before area lakes were built; trains brought fishermen here at the
turn of the century. The scenic area is still popular with fishermen and
water-sports enthusiasts who enjoy convenient access to Lake Lyndon B. Johnson.
Visitors also enjoy activities such as golf, bird watching, antique shopping,
art galleries and scenic drives. A popular area known as "The Slab," upstream
from city, is perfect for swimming and wading.
Annual July Fourth Aqua Boom celebration commemorates Independence Day with
one of the largest fireworks displays in the Hill Country.
