Best-known as the hometown of President Lyndon B. Johnson, this city is the
seat of Blanco County. The city was named for pioneer Johnson family, ancestors
of the president. Located at intersections of U.S. 281 and 290, less than an
hour from Austin and San Antonio. It is primarily a destination for the
Johnsons' ranch lands, but it also is becoming known for world-class artists
moving into the area. In fact, city is now home to three art
galleries.
