Established in 1890, the town was originally called Floyd City. The seat of
Floyd County, in the center of a productive farm area, it is headquarters for
large electric co-op, cotton ginning and shipping point. Check with the chamber
of commerce for information on the Circle Dot Ranch, which serves cowboy
breakfasts and suppers on the edge of Caprock Canyon.
