Settled in the 1830s, the town of Flower Mound derives its name from a
50-foot-tall pristine hill covered in wildflowers, known today simply as The
Mound. Approximately 30 miles north of Dallas and Fort Worth in southwestern
Denton County, Flower Mound was incorporated in February 1961.
Recreational enthusiasts find a variety of outdoor opportunities in Flower
Mound, including 684 acres of parkland, more than 30 miles of multipurpose
trails, Lake Lewisville, and Grapevine Lake on the town's southern
border.
