Established in 1891, this city is the seat of Foard County. In the mid-1800s,
the area was the domain of Comanche people who figured in history's most famous
case of a white girl captured and reared by Native Americans. The girl was
Cynthia Ann Parker, taken by Comanches in 1836 and recaptured by white men in
1860. Recapture site, Pease River Battlefield marked by a historical marker is

Bed-and-breakfasts, hunter's facilities and RV hookups available. Annual
events include Cynthia Ann Parker Days in May and Cowboy Christmas Ball in
December.
