This city's origins date back to the Republic of Texas, when the area was
settled as part of Peters' Colony as early as 1846. The village, named for
Postmaster Addison Robertson, was established when the St. Louis Southwestern
Railroad arrived in the early 1880s. Today, this city 15 minutes north of Dallas
offers abundant opportunities for shopping, lodging and dining.
The Addison Arts & Events District features indoor and outdoor venues for

Annual events include Taste Addison in May, Summer Event Series from June to
August, Addison Kaboom Town! in July and Oktoberfest in September.
Addison Airport is the third-busiest general aviation airport in the
country.
