Region: Panhandle Plains
Established in 1881, this community developed as a marketing and distribution
center for large cattle and agricultural area. Economy grew with the discovery
of the Ranger oil pool in 1917.
Big Country Dinner Theater, sponsored by Cisco Junior College, presents
productions every weekend in July. 254/442-5000.
Annual events include Folklife Festival in April. City also features
brick-paved streets, antique shops and more. There are several sites around the
city for excellent fossil hunting.
