Incorporated in 1952, Anthony is at Exit 0 on Interstate 10—the "Gateway to
Texas." In 1598 Don Juan de Onate and a band of colonizers traveled this road,
at rate of only 40 miles in 15 days, to settle Santa Fe. Economy is now keyed to
food canning and packing, cotton, and a federal correctional
institution.
