Richardson

In an area inhabited by Comanche and Caddo tribes, a community known as Breckinridge formed in the 1840s. After the Civil War, the railroad bypassed Breckinridge, and an area just to the northwest became the new center of activity. It was named Richardson, for the railroad contractor who built the line from Dallas to Denison. Today, besides being well-known as the Telecom Corridor for its large concentration of technology and telecommunications firms, Richardson hosts four award-winning music/art festivals each year and is home to a state-of-the-art performing arts facility.

The Dallas Area Rapid Transit Light Rail stops at four stations in Richardson, giving visitors easy access to other metroplex attractions.
