Johnson City

Best-known as the hometown of President Lyndon B. Johnson, this city is the seat of Blanco County. The city was named for the pioneer Johnson family, ancestors of the president. At the intersections of U.S. 281 and 290, less than an hour from Austin and San Antonio. The town is primarily a destination for the Johnsons' ranch lands, but it also is becoming known for world-class artists moving into the area. In fact, the city is now home to three art galleries.

Events include the Texas Men's State Chili Cookoff in March, the July 4th Spange Dangle, the "We Got Yer Goat Cookoff" in September, the Wild Game Dinner and the Johnson City Pig Roast in October, and Lights Spectacular from November–December.
