Comprised of eight cities at the mouth of the Brazos River, Brazosport communities are Clute , Freeport , Jones Creek , Lake Jackson , Oyster Creek , Quintana Beach , Richwood and Surfside Beach. Stephen F. Austin's original settlers, the "Old 300," first stepped off the schooner Lively at the mouth of the Brazos River here in 1821; thus, it's where modern Texas history began. Today, Brazosport is known for its beaches, nature sites, museums, sports and fishing.

RV facilities are available on or near the beach. Two 18-hole public golf courses are just minutes from the beach.
