In the center of a truck-farming region, the town is called the "Strawberry Capital of Texas." Extensive ranching, dairying and production of peanuts, hay and forage grains are here.
The Strawberry Festival, held in early April, draws thousands who pay tribute to the sweetness of this region's fruit. In addition to the judging and auction of strawberries, a rodeo, fiddlers contest, fireworks and other entertainment are held.
