This village in Grimes County was founded about 1885 on the Gulf, Colorado & Santa Fe Railroad. In the 1800s, it thrived as an agricultural center and wagon-making site. The community, about 45 miles north of Houston on Texas 105 and F.M. 1774, is a gateway to the eight-week Texas Renaissance Festival in the fall.
