Paducah

The town was established in 1892 as the seat of the newly created Cottle County. It was named for the Paducah, Ky., hometown of the county surveyor and attorney. In 1893, the town consisted of two stores, a schoolhouse and saloon that doubled as a church on Sunday. On Christmas Day 1909, the Quanah, Acme and Pacific Railroad reached the site, and the town was incorporated the next year.
