The discovery of medicinal qualities in local waters made this city famous in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was said that the waters of the Crazy Well (discovered in 1885) could cure mental illness and a long list of other maladies.
Paddle on the Brazos River, shop at the antique stores downtown or inquire about hunting or fishing.
Bicycle races and rallies are held throughout the Palo Pinto Mountain Range, with Cherry Pie Hill being a highlight of the ride. Routes are mapped out at www.visitmineralwells.org.
