Lumberton traces its beginnings to the arrival of the Gulf, Beaumont and Kansas City Railroad to service the numerous sawmills and logging camps in southern Hardin County. Located within the boundary of the Big Thicket National Preserve, today the city thrives.
Annual events include the Village Creek Festival and the Lighted Nighttime Christmas Parade.
