At the edge of the Texas Hill Country along I-35, Kyle is nestled between Austin and San Marcos. The town was established on July 24, 1880, when David E. Moore and Fergus Kyle gave 200 acres for a town site to the International-Great Northern Railroad. Kyle and its scenic Blanco River setting offer a charming place for visitors to enjoy old-town grace with modern amenities. This community features unique neighborhoods, live music venues, culinary delights, and nationally registered historic landmarks and cemeteries.
The Katherine Anne Porter House at 508 Center St. was home to one of America's most distinguished writers from 1892–1901, and is designated as a National Literary Landmark. www.english.txstate.edu/kap/.
