First settled in the 1850s, the town took on its current name in 1877. Now a vibrant city in the heart of the DFW Metroplex, Grand Prairie is known as a family-friendly destination with a variety of sporting events, arts, music, hotels, shopping and attractions just minutes from DFW International Airport. Attractions include a thoroughbred racetrack, Louis Tussaud's Palace of Wax, Ripley's Believe It Or Not!, Grand Prairie Airhogs baseball, the Historic Uptown Theater, a huge flea market, Lake Joe Pool and top-ranked golf courses.
